ABOUT US

About

Abrahams Tent was founded to support patients, families, and carers of those in the hospital so that no one bears the challenge of hospitalisation alone.

Rabbi Aycee and Sorella Abrahams, are the proud co-founders of Abrahams Tent and have been stalwarts of the Sydney Jewish community for many years. They have supported people and families through both the happiest and hardest times in their lives. Through their work, they have seen the power of the community coming together to support those in need. Through the years, they noticed that there was limited support and resources for those in the hospital.

Within our thriving Jewish community, they saw an opportunity for a wraparound service for patients in hospital and their families, providing support at one of their greatest times of need.

Rabbi Aycee and Sorella have both been impacted by serious illnesses in their families and bring empathy, compassion, and a deep understanding of the need and delivery of these vital services.

Abrahams Tent currently services the Randwick hospitals campus, with the vision of expanding to other hospitals in time.

Our name - Abrahams Tent

Avraham our forefather, represented Chesed - true kindness. Together with his wife, Sarah, he was known to host and care for visitors constantly. Their tent stood in the midst of the desert and was a place of respite for hungry, tired, and lost travellers. They welcomed all in, nourished, and cared for them with compassion and generosity. Once settled and well fed, they inspired the travellers spiritually as well.

Our aim is much the same at Abrahams Tent. We are a kind and welcoming space for all those in need, and a real source of nourishment and comfort to those struggling with a loved one in the hospital.

In addition, Rabbi Aycee and Sorella’s Hebrew names are Avraham and Sarah and their last name Abrahams therefore it felt quite fitting for the name.

Partner with us in providing kindness, vital support, and comfort needed to help those vulnerable. With YOUR support we can ensure that no one feels alone or forgotten during their challenging time.

We are a not-for-profit charity that relies solely on donations and the generosity of the community.
